Welcome to Details in Design

Details In Design, a needle art studio, specializes in fine handmade linens for the altar. Our company is a past member of the Irish Linen Guild and we have also been affiliated with the Masters of Linen, an International organization that promotes and endorses the highest standards of excellence in the manufacture and use of linen in the textile industry. We have gained much knowlege and understanding from our association with these organizations and continue to provide the highest quality of Linen available in the production and manufacture and design of our church linens.

Our studio and offices are located in the historic town of Williamsburg, Virginia. Established in 1990, Details In Design determined to provide a viable source for the finest linen and hand embroidery for our church linen clients throughout North America and the world.

Based upon traditional European standards, we offer you both professional embroideries and superior church linens for the altar. Our workrooms provide a full range of services including textile restoration for your fine altar linen. We can help you preserve your existing altar collections with repairs, stain removal, enhancement or ornamental embellishment through the use of embroidery and beautiful European lace trim.

We also provide free design consultation and price quotations for all your particular church linen requirements.

Recently, we have established another facet to our company by adding the Williamsburg School of Needlework program. It is our goal to establish a new generation of professional hand embroiderers, trained in the classical European tradition of church needlework and fine hand embroidery here in the USA. Currently we are training a core group of hand embroiderers able to work from their own home studios.

With our new School of Needlework we offer Sacristans, Altar Guilds, and all those in the Church the opportunity to be trained in the care of fine linens and learn basic Church Needlework techniques in fine hand embroidery. We welcome all those interested in these traditional skills to come visit our location. We want to preserve and keep alive these valuable Old World skills for generations to come.
